Light of Renewal
Light of Renewal: An Artistic Dialogue Across Civilisations
Bringing together sculpture, ceramics and contemporary painting, Light of Renewal explores shared ideas of renewal, balance and continuity across Eastern and Western traditions.
Presented at the AustrAsia Cultural Centre and at the Wingecarribee Shire Council as part of the Atrium Exhibition series, this exhibition brings together works that range from quiet symbolism to expressive form. Together, they invite reflection on how cultural traditions adapt over time while remaining deeply connected to their origins.

Light of the Century by Monom
Pause. Observe. Reconnect.
At the heart of the exhibition is the idea of life as a continuous cycle. Sculptural works draw on long-standing Eastern cultural traditions that emphasise balance, awareness and harmony. Rather than presenting fixed beliefs, these works offer visual meditations or exploration on change, continuity, and the relationship between the individual and the wider world.

The exhibition also responds to the Year of the Fire Horse, traditionally associated with (or a symbol of) vitality, moral strength and forward movement. In cultural traditions, the Horse represents energy and perseverance, while the Fire element adds warmth, drive and transformation.

Together, they reflect a sense of renewal through action, reminding us to move forward by aligning inner purpose with outward action.

Contemporary Voices and Living Traditions

Aboriginal dot painting and Century of Light series by Ricky Khan and Monom respond to nature and light as sources of meaning and renewal. These works sit alongside traditional forms, not in contrast, but in conversation.

Across the exhibition, tradition and contemporary expression inform and enrich one another, creating a shared narrative that crosses time, place and culture. Light of Renewal invites you to slow down, observe closely and consider how cultural stories continue to shape our shared experiences today.
